One Handshake at a Time

I'm Joe Urbay, founder of VCV International. I help founders and product owners get placement around the world. For over 20 years, I've been building relationships and opening doors in Europe, Asia, and Latin America — one handshake at a time.

How It Started

I got my start in international sales at Tristar Products, where I spent over eight years in domestic sales, especially catalogs. When the company needed someone to take over international, I stepped in — and took that division from $2 million a year to $50 million a year.

Along the way, I learned something more valuable than any sales number: your reputation is everything. In international business, your word is your contract. When that principle was no longer respected where I was, I knew it was time to build something of my own — a company where every deal starts with trust and ends with results.

That's how VCV International was born.

The Win-Win Philosophy

I've always believed in a simple truth: if my international client can't make money, the product doesn't work — for anyone.

"I don't just push product. I sit between the product owner and the international buyer and make sure the deal works for both sides. When the buyer makes money, the product owner makes money. And that's when relationships last 20 years."

International sales isn't like domestic. It's usually FOB — the client pays before shipping, handles local sales, returns, and retail terms. For product owners, this means tighter margins but zero risk and pure cash flow. For buyers, it means they need a deal structured so they can actually win. My job is making sure both sides see that.

Thinking Outside the Box

Every market has its challenges. The difference is how you solve them.

🇧🇷

The Brazil Factory

When brutal import tariffs made Brazil impossible for everyone else, I negotiated and opened a manufacturing facility in Manaus to build product locally — bypassing the tariff wall completely. That's the kind of creative problem-solving I bring to every market.

🌍

The COVID Comeback

When COVID hit and my clients across South America were struggling, I negotiated a deal for Happy Nappers and placed it across multiple South American countries. The clients purchased nearly $4 million worth of product, generating approximately $16 million in retail revenue. But what I remember most isn't the numbers — it was knowing that my friends and partners needed a win, and we delivered one.

The Relationships

After 20+ years, my clients aren't just clients. We catch up regularly over email, WhatsApp, and phone calls. They've become friends. Each relationship on our testimonials page — Mexico, Japan, Australia, UK, Brazil, and dozens more — represents a real partnership, built on trust, maintained over years, and proven through results.

Beyond Business

Outside of international sales, I'm also a certified personal trainer, health coach, and author. I wrote Walking with Vicente — a book about how I helped my 81-year-old father-in-law reclaim his health through what I call the Mojo Method: Movement, Single-Ingredient Food, and the Power of Connection. It's available on Amazon in both English and Spanish.

It may seem like a different world from international sales, but the core is the same: show up every day, keep your word, and take care of the people who count on you.
